Enchanting Reviews is Proud to have Rosemarie Piemonte
in a Live Interview Held inside the Romance Galleria. Our
very own Artistic Director and Moderator Anya was
privelaged to talk with her.
Anya: What made you decide to become an Author?
Rosemarie Piemonte 01: I wrote this book when I was
younger and I kept saving it to each one of my computers.
One day, I said I want this in print. I want to be ablet to put it
on my book shelf.
R Piemonte 01: So, I found an editor and I found a publisher
and...I wrote the book for me. I never thought that I would
sell it.
Anya: What was your First book?
Rosemarie Piemonte 01: My first book was Falling Roses.
That's the book.
Anya: How do you come your with your characters? Which
has been your favorite Character or Characters to write
about so far?
R Piemonte 01: My favorite character is Gabrielle aka
Bobbie. I see her, I see her life. I see this movie in my head
and when a new character comes in they already have a
name.
R Piemonte 01: I've been through every experience
Gabrielle has been through. I've laughed with her and cried
with her.
R Piemonte 01: I think I know her so well. It's her daughter
Jackie that I found that I'm not as close with...And, I'm not
sure why?
Anya: Can you tell me about any current works in progress
you're working on?
R Piemonte 01: Just recently I published the second book,
Falling Roses: The Years Between. I've started to work on a
third in the series, however it is not yet titled. It will be
Falling Roses something. It's more about the Jackie,
Gabrielle's daughter as well as her son.
R Piemonte 01: I'm also writing some poetry.
R Piemonte 01: But right now, I'm truly doing a lot of
promoting for my second book. Promoting is taking more
time.
Anya: Thats a truly unique gift to be able to see them like
that, did you know that many truly great authors have made
the same coment when writing?
R Piemonte 01: I didn't know that. I thought a lot of authors
write with outlines. I've never heard anyone say that they
see things like I do.
Anya: Lots of people can relate to characters, like Charlaine
Harris and Laurell K Hamilton.
Anya: Is Falling Roses going to be a series then?
R Piemonte 01: Yes definitely. I do believe that I will have at
least 4 books in the series. I already have ideas for books 3
& 4.
Anya: Can you tell us about them as well, or is it too early
on?
R Piemonte 01: It's from the movie that plays in my head,
however sometimes the movie moves around and wouldn't
go together so well.
R Piemonte 01: The fourth book is going to be about the
evil Bernadette. There may be even crazy things mentioned
from her diary.
R Piemonte 01: The third book is going to be about Jackie
falling in love with the wrong guy. How life is after they don't
have to worry about the mob anymore.
R Piemonte 01: The evil Bernadette (her sister) makes a
debut also in the third book. And she's the villain.
R Piemonte 01: For some reason I like women as villain's.
I'm not sure why that is either.
Anya: What do you enjoy most about being an author?
R Piemonte 01: Meeting people definitely. I have made so
many new friends. Most of my best friends are authors.
Anya: Who or what influences your muse to write?
R Piemonte 01: The movie in my head. The situtations that
arise within my characters. I think Wow, this is funny I'm
going to write that down or this is an action scene that I
have to put in my next book.
Anya: What has been the hardest thing about being an
author?
R Piemonte 01: Being accepted. When people do
something different other's don't like that too much.
Sometimes I feel that if I talk about writing with people who
are not authors that I'm doing something criminal.
R Piemonte 01: I know that sounds funny, but after being
published I found that I didn't have much support.
R Piemonte 01: So the hardest thing would be sharing and
talking about it and telling people about what you love and
what you're doing.
R Piemonte 01: I find that extremely tough being an author. I
truly don't talk about it much or what my goals and the next
step is.
R Piemonte 01: It's the ridicule I guess. Sometimes you
have to watch what you say, because then others will take it
out of context too.
Anya: Know that there are thousands if not millions of
authors out there that know how you feel and also know
that the support system is amazing.
R Piemonte 01: Out there...yes the support system is
amazing.
Anya: When writing and seeing the movie being played out
do you incorporate all of the sights and sounds to paper?
R Piemonte 01: Oh yes. Everything I see. Sometimes, I find,
that when I'm typing it out and I have my eyes closed, I
might brush my hair away from face or itch my nose and if I
do that, I incorporate that in the book as well.
R Piemonte 01: I don't smell things, and I only hear their
voices, however their voices are a thought so...this is
getting deep here.
R Piemonte 01: next
R Piemonte 01: lol
Anya: Do deadlines help or hinder your muse?
R Piemonte 01: It helps. I had a deadline with Falling
Roses: The Years Between and I finished 4 months early
when writing it with my editor. Also too, the deadline for
publishing was summer and I had it was published in April.
R Piemonte 01: Since the deadline was there, I didn't
procrastinate. I liked it.
Anya: Do you feel a calling toward a specific Genre or Style
of writing?
R Piemonte 01: Definitly Romance. Romance is my calling.
However, I find lately that I enjoy writing action scenes more
than love scenes. I know though that my books will always
be romance books. And, I would never write non-fiction.
Anya: What POV do you prefer writing in?
R Piemonte 01: First. Although my books are in 3rd, I don't
like it.
Anya: Do you find it hard to switch POV's like that?
R Piemonte 01: Sometimes, I write scenes in first person
and then change it later to third.
R Piemonte 01: Yes, sometimes. It all depends what I'm
writing. I write a lot of dialogue, so it's not that hard.
Anya: How long did it take from Submission to Print for your
books to get published?
R Piemonte 01: 6 months. For The Years Between 2 1/2
months.
R Piemonte 01: My first book was more difficult because my
publisher was having problems with formatting my galley.
Also too, they couldn't do the cover how I wanted it.
Anya: Have you or are you considering getting an Agent?
R Piemonte 01: Yes, just recently I was considering either
getting an agent or trying to submit to a traditional publisher
myself. I'm still thinking about it, but I'm not sure. I want to
write for me. I don't like following rules or guidelines of what
I should write.
Anya: Who are you published through and for which books?
R Piemonte 01: Both books are published with AuthorHouse.
R Piemonte 01: I'm thinking about doing the whole series
through AuthorHouse.
Anya: Where can we Buy your Books at?
R Piemonte 01: You can purchase Falling Roses from
anywhere really. Although it's not on shelves you can walk
into any bookstore and order it from the register. I have a
store on my website and Amazon and any on-line bookstore
should also have both books.
Anya: Ok Last Questions, who are your favorite authors?
Books?
R Piemonte 01: My favorite authors would be Mario Puzo. I
loved The Godfather. Jane Green (Mr. Maybe.) And of
course Nora Roberts. Montana Sky is one of my favorite
books by her.
Anya: Is there anything else you would like to add?
R Piemonte 01: My website is www.falling-roses.com and I
have a myspace at www.myspace.com/fallingrosesromance.
Anya: Wonderful. I want to thank you again for taking time
to chat with us, and I hope to see more of your work soon.
R Piemonte 01: And thank you for having me.
